So as you all might know I am a bit disabled at the moment because of my broken leg. So me, my Mum and my Grandma decided to do the obvious thing that you do when you can’t walk, go on a walk (I mean hop). We decided to go to the next beach across from us which is called Sand Bay. Sand Bay is more of a locals beach than Weston-super-Mare’s beach which is more Touristy and Developed personally that isn’t really my cup of tea. I prefer traditional things like cobbled floors, sand dunes and wood paneling.
To get to the beach we had to travel along an old toll road through the woods with the sea on the other side of us. The only thing between our car and the sea was a couple of trees. The wind whipped through our hair as we drove down with radio 4 in the background (not my choice). It was an overcast day but that was alright As that is my favourite kind of weather to walk in because you can wear warm jumpers and feel the wind on your face as you walk, hear the sound of the waves crashing as you walk along the beach and you usually have the whole beach to yourselves because no one goes out.
The tide was also out that day but it didn’t stop us from having fun. We took Archie along (our Springer Spaniel Border Collie cross) with us so he was bounding about chasing after birds on the waters edge, chasing balls that we threw him and generally trying to get as sandy as possible in the shortest time possible. It was all fun and games until I realised that I’ll have to wash and dry him when I get home with the use of only one leg it seemed nearly impossible. If you were wondering i delegated that one to my mum with the i have a broken leg excuse
Sand Bay is a mixture between a rocky and sandy beach which makes it a perfect place for being able to sunbathe but also to be able to skim stones into the sea like a romantic couple from the 90’s. It has a lot of sand dunes as well with a lot of wildlife, plants and beautiful moments for photography such as this one to the left. I J UST LOVE THE COLOUR GREEN (and I love plants, nature is AMAZING). As soon as I go outside I get all excited because this planet is so beautiful and so many people don’t realise this and don’t go outside, or they don’t get to live in such a beautiful place like I do. i’m so lucky.
As we walked along with the doggo and me trying to keep up on crutches we began to see the beauty around us (no, they weren’t looking at me more). We began to see the little things like the wind blowing the leaves in the trees and the prints we left in the sand as we walked along the beach. In the picture on the right you can sea the woods of Weston which we went through to get to sand bay. When we got back to the car we decided to drive home along the beach and back up through the woods which was a lovely idea. We got to see families having fun and enjoying the time together which was lovely.
